's Fachl in the half-timbered house capital
The charming little town of Celle. Originality and diversity are definitely not lacking here.
The picturesque old town consists of around 500 lavishly restored and listed half-timbered houses and forms the largest self-contained ensemble in Europe. Celle's 70,000 inhabitants are as diverse as its buildings. People from around 110 nations shape the city's life, and diversity is known to be the engine of creativity.
You are unlikely to find large, loveless shopping centres here; instead you will find owner-run retail shops, department stores and speciality shops.
